CME102 fitted to a Jaguar E-type The clamp has two plastic formers to protect the paint work; one is 8mm thick and the other 1.25mm. The clamp has a maximum opening of 12mm, so normally you can use it on a 2.75mm flange, but if you cut down the 8mm former to say 1.25mm, you could have an effective gap of 9.5mm. On a stainless steel window frame it may also be possible to do away with the formers, or use very thin plastic to increase the usable gap to about 11.5mm.
